Harvesting Magic Mushrooms

Magic mushrooms become ripe when the white membrane (which links the cap and the stem) breaks partially. Keep in mind that you should not be touching the magic mushrooms at all till they grow to the full size though. For you to harvest one magic mushroom you will need to wash your hands fully and probably use a disinfectant or rubbing alcohol to make sure they are cleaned properly. After that you will take the lid or cover off of the jar or container that the mushrooms are in and grab the mushroom right around the base of it. It may be helpful if you were to have sterilized tweezers instead and use them. It’s best if you don’t actually stick your hands into the jar or container because you don’t want to contaminate the mushrooms as it will ruin them.

Removing the Mushroom
To remove the magic mushroom you will have to use a twisting motion so that it can assist in breaking off the mushroom from the mycelia. If this method will not work easily for you then you could always wash a little knife with anti bacterial soap, place the blade of the knife in alcohol, and flame it momentarily and then you can use the tip of the knife to slice the mushroom near the base so that it is easier to pull out.

It’s not that difficult to harvest magic mushrooms but the main thing you have to remember is that you have to be sure that you don’t damage them at all. If you are careful about it then you will not run into any problems. Just make sure that you won’t contaminate or break the magic mushrooms as you are harvesting them and everything will be fine.
