It is important that you identify the species of the mushroom because you don’t know if it is a magic mushroom (or how potent it is) and it’s important to find that out if you want to eat it. Some mushrooms should not be eat at all though because they are toxic or poisonous so finding that out ahead of time is very important as well.

The size of the stem, cap, and various other pieces of the mushroom is one important factor to look at. The color of the mushroom in certain areas, the height of the mushroom, the patterns, the area you found it, the weight of the mushroom, and loads of other characteristics will all play a major role in figuring out if it’s a magic mushroom and can be consumed or not.
